Abstract

highly relativistic acceleration of magnetically driven jets, withinthe framework of ideal MHD for cold, stationary, and axisymmetricoutflows,closed-form expression for the transition from a magneticallydominated flow to a kinetic-energy-dominated one,equipartition between magnetic and kinetic energies is realized ata cylindrical radius of the order of RL E/c2,the transverse width of jet after the initial accelerationis of order gamma x 2RL, (with Lorentz factor gamma and light cylinderradius RL)
