Abstract
Aim: The purpose of the study is to investigate factors influencing aphrodisiac use among Lagos commercial bus drivers. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional design was adopted for the research and a simple random sampling technique was used to select 100 participants. This study used a self-structured administered questionnaire. Descriptive statistics (tables and percentages) and inferential statistics (Chi-square tests at a significance threshold of 0.05) were employed to examine the data using SPSS version 25. Results: The results suggest that most participants are knowledgeable of the word "aphrodisiac" and have confidence in its effectiveness in improving sexual performance. The majority of participants said that they mostly used aphrodisiacs for sexual augmentation, with a predilection for phytochemical supplements. Utilisation of aphrodisiacs is mostly more prevalent among older age groups and individuals with secondary levels of education. Variables such as availability of aphrodisiacs, number of wives, and perceived efficacy had a substantial impact on the usage of aphrodisiacs, whereas religious convictions and health consciousness tended to discourage their use. These findings emphasize the many factors that need to be taken into account in health promotion programs. Conclusion: The study determined that aphrodisiacs are extensively used and considered to be useful among commercial bus drivers. The implementation of comprehensive educational programs is essential to guarantee the holistic well-being of individuals.
