Abstract

Research indicates that decreased levels of NAD+ and a decline in sirtuin activity contribute to the aging process and to the pathogenesis of chronic age-related diseases. Study results also demonstrate that restoring NAD+ concentrations may slow the aging process and protect against age-associated conditions. Incorporating a healthy diet and lifestyle through a nutritional eating plan, increased physical and mental activity, and the use of evidence-based nutraceutical interventions provides a reasonable option to deal with physiological, as well as pathological, aspects of aging in this new arena of antiaging medicine.
