Abstract
Banana companies represent one of Ecuador's main sources of income due to the export of their products. However, small Ecuadorian banana companies face several challenges because of the limited resources they have, being forced to implement innovative practices that allow them to meet the highstandards of the market and improve their organizational results. This research seeks to relate administrative innovation with the performance of banana companies, for which a non-experimental, descriptive, and correlational quantitative investigation was carried out. 86 small banana companies of Los Ríos province were analyzed. Through Spearman's Rho statistic, the elements that intervene in administrative innovation and business performance in banana plants was identified. The main results indicate that small banana companies do not yet have environmental management policies and practices that contribute to superior performance in this area.
