Abstract

A 55-year-old man who had been treated for a manic-depressive disorder for about five years developed scarlet eruptions over his entire body after the administration of carbamazepin and haloperidol. The clinical and histological findings of his skin lesions were characteristic of TEN. At the site of a positive patch test reaction to these two drugs, the histopathological features were consistent with TEN. Both two drugs were considered to have shown a causative relationship with the onset of TEN.
