Abstract

This study determined the school-based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) capability of public education institutions in the Municipality of Polangui in terms of the availability of educational facilities designed for evacuation areas, the availability of disasterrelated health and environment provisions, the availability and responsiveness of disaster preparedness plans and activities, the coordination and networking of school stakeholders; and active community involvement and extra-co-curricular activities responsive to DRRMIt also developed the DRRM capacity profile of public educational institutions based on the comprehensive school safety monitoring framework to promote environment supporting, secure learning facilities, disaster management , and risk mitigation and resilience training. This also established the differences that affect DRRM capabilities. Descriptive-assessment research methods were utilized in the study and the study respondents were named school DRRM coordinators, administrators, teachers and student leaders. Findings showed that a framework model was proposed to resolve the DRRM potential of public education institutions in the Municipality of Polangui.
