Abstract
This article presents the result of a study on the solidarity-based actions of young people who participate in youth groups in Medellin. The study focuses on solidarity as an action -beyond its connotation as a value or feeling- considering it as a moral experience. The main methodological strategy is the production and analysis of testimonial narratives that are based on in-depth interviews and focus groups. The results are grouped as follows: 1) solidarity as an action aimed at strengthening relationships; 2) solidarity as an action designed to overcome injustice and combat indifference and fear. As conclusions, the study affirms that even though some of the solidarity-based actions are responses to a group of different situations, the majority respond to the search for justice.
