Abstract

We provide compelling support for the key role played by polaron formation to the physics of cuprate superconductors, which is evidenced above the pseudogap temperature T z.ast;, is the origin of the pseudogap phase itself and persists in the superconducting phase. Experimental and theoretical results are compared and show convincing agreement with each other. © 2008 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
