Abstract
For being a major reserve of drinkable water, groundwater is being studied across the Planet. This study was carried out to instigate further groundwater hydrology investigation in the surrounding region of Caxias do Sul. Its objective is to use a geospatial interpolation technique over the static, dynamic and discharge parameters so to make acquainted to some aquifer boundary conditions and areas of higher exploitation possibilities. The data was analyzed with the help of ArcGIS 10.4.1, applying the Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) technique and the Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE) method in order to verify the efficiency of the IDW. The discharge map showed an anisotropic distribution and some favorable exploitation regions. The potentiometric surface and dynamic level maps indicated different groundwater flow directions. The efficiency of the interpolation technique presented acceptable to excellent index in both maps. Therefore, the NSE method was considered adequate to validate the interpolation and the IDW technique was judged competent to represent the hydrogeological and hydraulics parameters. Allied to a Geographic Information System (GIS) the IDW technique can be a powerful tool for groundwater management.
