Abstract

The idea of massive online open courses (MOOCs) have become a new touchstone in educational evolution. Many institutions are forming around this idea, and others are likely to follow. The concept raises many questions as regards economics, the effects on continuing education, testing, changes to teaching methods, and student performance.This article attempts to address some of those questions. © 1997-2012 IEEE.
