Abstract
Power delivery apparatus in substations tends to operate under circumstances which do not allow long-term shutdown for overhaul inspection and maintenance. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor and diagnose the condition of substation equipment while in operation, so that signs of abnormalities or end-of-life can be detected. Hitachi, Ltd. has been developing and improving sensing and diagnostic technology, including expert systems, for diagnosing various abnormal conditions and predicting end-of-life with high accuracy. Based upon this technology, we are now producing high-precision on-line operation/maintenance systems, incorporating various types of high-precision diagnostic devices and expert systems. These systems are being designed and manufactured for use in newly constructed substations.
