Abstract

Sir John Struthers was Professor of Anatomy in Aberdeen from 1863-1889. Some of his contributions, both locally and nationally are outlined, with a brief account of his early career. His interest in the anatomy of whales is noted and the saga of the Toy Whale and his involvement described in detail. Some of his other contributions are also recorded. © 1996 Scottish Medical Journal.
