Abstract
Introduction: The 2018 national data shows that prevalence of stunting in Indonesia is 30.8%, whereas East Jakarta considered as a municipality in DKI Jakarta with highest stunting prevalence, 25.7%. Objectives: This research aimed at determining factors related and dominant to stunting among children aged 24-30 months in Cakung District, East Jakarta, Indonesia. Methods: The design of this research was cross sectional with sample 221 children taken with cluster sampling. Data collection were conducted by measuring height, interview by using questionnaire and food recall 2x24 hours. Data analysis used chi-square and prediction model from multiple logistic regression. Results: Showed that proportion of stunting among children aged 24-30 months were 20.4%. The chi-square test showed that there was significant relationship between nutritional intake for energy (p-value=0,003), carbohydrate (p-value=0,006), protein (p-value=0,005), fat (p-value=0,002), vitamin A (p-value=0,009), age of milk introduction (p-value=0,008), frequency of drinking milk (p-value=0,025), mothers education (p-value=0,006) and nutritional knowledge (p-value=0,041) towards stunting. The results of logistic regression showed that the age of milk introduction as a dominant factor of stunting. Children that started to drink milk in 12 months or more were 2.2 more likely to be stunted compared to children that start to drink milk before 12 months. Conclusions: This study conclude that nutrients intake for macro and micro like vitamin A, age of milk introduction, frequency of drinking milk, mothers education and nutritional knowledge have a relationship with stunting among children aged 24-30 months in Cakung District.
