Abstract
Philosophy is a person's attempt to know everything that starts with curiosity and doubt. This curiosity and doubtful attitude then gave rise to scientific theories that would eventually develop a science. Along with the development of human thought, came the idea that the only source of knowledge is realistic nature. Knowledge must be sourced from factual things that are empirical. This flow is called the flow of positivism philosophy. Researchers of factual matters who received great attention by this school to further examine the role of the positivism philosophy in the development of science as well as its contribution to education in Indonesia. This research uses an approach with a literature study method. The results of the study indicate that the philosophy of positivism has a very large role in the development of science in modern times. This role is also felt by the world of education, for example in the development of educational curricula, learning methods and learning the birth of Islamic studies with a scientific approach.
