Abstract
BACKGROUND: Professional nurse job, long-term rhythm of life that is irregular, and pressure of many aspects of live cause multiple role conflicts, sleep problem, affect the efficiency, and quality of nurses performance. AIM: The aim of the study was to find out the direct and indirect effect of work family conflict (WFC), shift work, nutrition status, and sleep quality on nurse performance through work stress as an intervening variable on female nurses at Hospital. METHODS: The type of this research used observational analytic with cross-sectional design. This research was conducted in February – June 2021 at Dr. Hospital. Tadjuddin Chalid Makassar. The sample of this research was female nurses who were married as many as 73 respondents. The independent variable is WFC; Shift work; Nutrition status; Sleep Quality; Work Stress while the dependent variable is Nurse Performance. The instrument used is a questionnaire to measure research variables that have been tested for validation and reliability. Data analysis used univariate analysis and multivariate with SPSS and analysis used to know the effect of two or more variables or direct effect and indirect effect with handle the another variable and to know how big is the influence of variable purely with used Path Analysis with SmartPLS program. RESULTS: The most age range of respondents was 31–40 years is 34.3% and the most work period of respondents was >10 years is 63%. Independent variable show that the most work duration was 8 h is 91.8%, WFC with low category is 79.5%, the most shift work where morning shift is 57.3%, nutrition status with normal category is 61.6%, sleep quality with bad category is 54.8%, work stress with low is 52.1%, and good performance category is 83.6%. Variables that have a significant effect on work stress are WFC (X1) with p < 0.05, while shift work (X2), nutritional status (X3), and sleep quality (X4) do not have a significant effect on p > 0.05. Variables that have a significant influence on nurse performance (Y2) are sleep quality (X4) and work stress (Y1) with p < 0.05 while WFC (X1), shift work (X2), and nutritional status (X3) variables has no significant effect with p > 0.05. CONCLUSION: The four independent variables that show a direct and significant effect on work stress are WFC. The variables that have a direct and significant effect on the performance of nurses in Dr. Hospital. Tadjuddin Chalid Makassar are sleep quality and nurse work stress.
