Abstract

Keywords: Learning Difficulties; Math; Deaf Children. The problem in this study is the difficulty of learning mathematics in students with special needs (deaf) class V at SLB-B Negeri Pembina Palembang. The aims of this study are (1) to explore the causes of learning difficulties in mathematics in class V deaf students at SLB-B Negeri Pembina Palembang (2) to identify how the teacher's efforts in overcoming difficulties in learning mathematics to deaf students in class V in SLB-B Pembina Country of Palembang. The type of this research is qualitative research with a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of this study indicate that the difficulty of learning mathematics in deaf students are: (1) The form of difficulty in learning mathematics experienced by deaf children consists of several components, namely difficulties in abstract learning materials, difficulties in counting and difficulties in solving story problems. (2) The factors that cause difficulties in learning mathematics come from internal factors and external factors. (3) Efforts that can be made by teachers in overcoming difficulties in learning mathematics are by holding remedial programs, namely teachers repeating mathematics subject matter continuously, using stone tools (props), increasing practice questions, motivating students and cooperating with parents. student.
