Abstract

JSTOR is a not-for-profit service that helps scholars, researchers, and students discover, use, and build upon a wide range of content in a trusted digital archive. SUMMARY Satterthwaite's approximation for the distribution of a contrast on group means is ktnown to be robtust under heterogeneity of within group variances. By combiniiig orthonoimal contrasts, oine-way and two-way analysis of variance statistics are derived. For comparing several means a mtultiple comparisons test proce-dure is proposed.
