Abstract

The green movement, which really started as a protest movement after Ahmadinejad election, has developed a political project which is to put democracy at the core of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Due to the repression, its strategy has evolved and aims at popularizing its ideas through Iranian society. Economic issues are now addressed by this movement with the aim of getting support from the working class while the Greens defend the rights of ethnic and religious minorities in Iran. This movement has now become a real political force which has led to deep divisions inside the regime and has still support in the population as was demonstrated by the manifestation it organized recently in support of the Arab revolutions. The present crisis between Ahmadine-jad and the Supreme Leader is also reinforcing this movement.
