Abstract

An enantioselective hydrogenation of disubstituted furans has been developed by using a chiral ruthenium catalyst with N-heterocyclic carbene ligands. This reaction converts furans into valuable enantioenriched disubstituted tetrahydrofurans. © 2014 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.
