Abstract

The development of a shorted annular ring (SAR) antenna with left hand circular polarization (LHCP), improving the axial ratio by means of slits and stubs is presented in this paper. The whole structure dimensions are 76mm × 76mm × 1.6mm, therefore it can be integrated into one side of a CubeSat 1U satellite. The proposed design shows an impedance bandwidth of 3.32 % from 2.37GHz to 2.45GHz frequency band, with reflection coefficient inferior to-10dB and maximum gain of 6.2dBi at a central frequency of 2.41 GHz. The results of the measurements, compared with simulation results are similar. However, a small difference in the measurements of the radiation diagram and of the reflection coefficient was observed.
