Abstract

[Unfortunately the modern urban planning for the major cities of Korea was prepared and enforced for the first time by the Government-general of Korea under the Japanese-rule. By the way, almost no attempt has been made until now to study the purposes, the processes and the methods of the urban planning of that period because of the difficulty in data collection consequent upon the dispersal of data. After the collection and specification of data. I organized them as follows. l ) Arterial street Reconstruction planning. 2) Efforts previous to the establishment of the Town Planning Act. 3) Establishment of the Town Planning Act and its application. 4) Enforcement of Regional Planning. 5) Enforcement of Land Readjustment. 6) Urban Planning Project by the Air Defence Act. However, on account of the limited space I have to give you explanation about 1), and 2) only in this issue. The explanation about the rest will be continued in the next issue.]
