Abstract

Due to small plate thickness, thin-walled members are characterized by some specific features. The theoretical and experimental study of behaviour of thin-walled member connections with mechanical fasteners, bolts and self-tapping screws, is presented in the paper. The shear and tensile behaviour of connections is analyzed. Experimental results are compared with current European and American design codes. Characteristic shear and tensile resistance values of self-tapping screws are also defined.
