Abstract
Severe wildfires in recent years prompted several communities and local governments to independently craft plans for addressing wildfire risk in their immediate vicinity. A rush of similar planning efforts was spurred on by language in Title I of the Healthy Forests Restoration Act of 2003, which defined Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPP) and granted priority to fund hazardous fuels reduction projects in areas where a CWPP was in place. Several brief articles, which provide encouragement to those just beginning the CWPP process and provide practical advice from variety of partners who have already begun, are offered.
