Abstract
Global warming, the ever-increasing compaction of buildings, waste heat from domestic heating, industry and transport leads to overheating of urban areas. An effective solution for improving the quality of the urban environment should be considered the device of "green roofs", allowing the city to be discharged from overheating and dustiness in the summer. The main indicators of the "green roof" that improve the quality of the urban environment include: enriching the urban atmosphere with oxygen, reducing overheating of buildings and urban areas, managing rainwater, reducing the dust content in the city's atmosphere, reducing the noise level inside the building and reducing sound reflections on the roof, shielding of electromagnetic radiation, an increase in the surface area of the urban environment, suitable for the habitat of representatives of urban fauna. Large shopping centers, due to their significant areas occupied in the structure of cities, should be considered as potentially active sites affecting the microclimatic parameters of adjacent urban areas. Thanks to the installation of sheds with "green roofs" above the parking areas, it is possible to reduce the anthropogenic load from excessive "sealed" areas, overheating, dust and gas pollution. The high rates of the number of large shopping centers in the structure of cities suggest that the ecologically sound landscape - town planning organization of shopping complexes can be a successful tool for the improvement of the urban environment.
