Abstract

The design of workstations and workplaces for ergonomics can be challenging when determining anthropometric parameters such as standing height. This study aimed to develop model equations for determining standing height (SH) using regression analysis as an alternative to measurement. The study involved 406 healthy young adults (206 male and 200 female) aged between 19 and 27years from Abeokuta south western Nigeria. Seated-at-shoulder level (SSL), seated-at-knee level (SKL), popliteal height (PH) and standing height (SH) measurements were taken for each participant. Multivariate regression analyses was used to determine the SH with correlation coefficient (R), coefficient of determination (R2) and Standard error of estimation (S.E.E) calculated.
