Abstract

Radiometric, colorimetric and two immunochemical methods for measuring total iron-binding capacity are compared. We evaluated the procedures on the basis of precision, applicability to a pediatric population, and accuracy by analytical recovery of purified transferrin. The immunonephelometric assay for transferrin provides significant advantages over the other methods examined.
