Abstract
In recent years, the existence of queer children has gained visibility in the Spanish public sphere, often with some social debate. Gender and sexual diversity in minors are a problematic issue in the media, conditioned by social taboos. Images of such forms of diversity are mostly focused on post-adolescent ages. This article researches the existence of images of queer children in Spanish film history, analysing which ones have existed and how they worked in narrative, aesthetic and ideological terms. is analysed in relation to the audiovisual representation of the characters and to what ideas and discourses are linked to such representations. The article starts by considering some movies of the 1960s that starred children, then focuses on auteur cinema since the Spanish Transition to democracy and ends with contemporary family comedies, three approaches that show different ways of thinking and representing queer children in Spanish cinema.
