Abstract
The objective of this study is to measure pedestrian accessibility to urban facilities for older adults in the Eastern Region of the State of Mexico, Mexico, to support decision-making for new facility locations that enable daily activities among older adults and promote age-friendly cities. This work provides a methodological, systemic, and replicable contribution, which is why only a sample of key services was selected. The proposed accessibility index estimation is based on the Gaussian-based 2SFCA (Two-Step Floating Catchment Area) method with gravitational considerations. Using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), areas with the highest pedestrian accessibility to facilities are evaluated. The findings reveal that in the Eastern State of Mexico, over half of older adults face limited potential accessibility to facilities due to their absence or oversaturation.
