Reflections on social work's identity: International themes in Italian practitioners' representation of social work

Abstract

Can we identify common themes characterizing the social work pro- fession across cultures? Using Italian social workers' representations of their profession three core issues are identi ed that recur in inter- national debates. Reconciling contradictory elements might be one of the common characteristics of the social work project across dif- ferent countries.
