Abstract

This article argues that Pleasantville and October Sky perform the cultural work of the Clintonadministration's Third Way politics. Examining Clinton's neoliberal policy work as well as theexpansion of the memory industry in the 1990s, it contends that each film's depiction of the pastreveals more about the dominant ideology within the 90s.
