Abstract
The distribution equilibria of impurity elements Ag, Ni, Co, Pb, Sb and As for three melts of metal, matte and silica-saturated iron silicate slag at 1300 degree C have been investigated experimentally under a controlled SO//2 pressure varying from 0. 7 to 20 kPa. Major parts of Ag, As and Sb are concentrated in the metallic phase. A major part of Co is concentrated in the slag. Ni and Pb are distributed among all three melts in similar concentrations. Thermodynamic treatments of the experimental results suggest that the impurity elements are dissolved in the slag in the oxidic form.
