Abstract

The results of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative that began in 1988 when there was transmission of 350,000 polio cases in 125 countries and has culminated in endemic transmission of only 223 polio cases in 3 countries in 2012 are reviewed. © 2014 American Academy of Neurology.
