Abstract

Alloys containing nickel or co balt a nd as mu ch as 15 perce ni of phosphorus ha ve been electrodeposited fl'om solutions containing phosphites. The alloys are ha rd a nd may be further harde ne d by heat-treating at 400 0 C. The high-phosphorus ni ckel alloy is m ore resistant to attack by h ydrochl ori c acid than pure nickel deposits. The high-phos phorus alloys a re b ri ght as deposited , but t heir reflectivities a re lower than those of buffed coatings of pure nickel. .
