Intervention on Medication Adherence for Chronic Kidney Failure Patients on Quality of Life at Undata Hospital, Central Sulawesi Province

Abstract

Background: Chronic kidney failure is an abnormality in the structure and function of the kidneys that lasts for 3 months or more. Chronic kidney failure is a common health problem among people with a high prevalence and incidence. Based on data from the Medical Records of the Undata Regional General Hospital, Central Sulawesi Province, in 2023, there were 102 cases of chronic kidney failure. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between medication adherence and quality of life of chronic kidney failure outpatients at Undata General Hospital, Central Sulawesi Province. Method: This research is a pre-experimental study with a one group pre test – post test design with 54 respondents using a total sampling technique and collecting data using a medication adherence questionnaire (MMAS-8) and quality of life questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF). Result: The results of the study were obtained at the pre-test for adherence to taking medication in the categories of non-adherence (64.8%), moderate (27.8%), and adherence (7.4%), in the post-test with categories non-adherence (57.4%), moderate (33.3%), and adherence (9.3%). While the results of the research on the pre-test of quality of life in the categories of bad (0%), moderate (96.3%), and good (3.7%), in the post-test with the categories of bad (0%), moderate (92.6%), and good (7.4%). The results of the correlation analysis using the Pearson Correlation test obtained the value of Sig. 0.131 or >0.05, which means H0 is rejected and there is no correlation. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that there is no correlation between medication adherences to the quality of life of chronic kidney failure outpatients at Undata Regional General Hospital, Central Sulawesi Province.
