Abstract
A novel block copolymers composing of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and poly[(2-methacryloyloxy)ethyl phosphorylcholine] (PMPC) were prepared by radical polymerization of MPC initiated with a PDMS type of azo-initiator. The biocompatibility of PMPC-b-PDMS was evaluated by the adsorption of protein and the adhesion of human platelets. PDMS-b-PMPC had both a hydrogel structure and a micro-phase separation structure suitable for biomedical use.
