Abstract
Based on field observations and on measurements of temperature, salinity, nutrients and water transparency and movement, each one of these factors is analyzed to try to find out which is most important in controlling growth and productivity of macroalgae in Tairona National Park, Caribbean coast of Colombia. It is hypothesized that temperature is the key factor regula-ing these physiological aspects of the Park macroalgae. Its increase to above 26°C as a result of the upwelling decline and of other oceanographic-meteorological phenomena, produces the disturbance (biomass removal) to macroalgae, that is observed annually (wet seasons).
