Abstract

The self-incompatibility genotypes of apple cultivars were determined using cross-incompatible and -compatible parents and their progenies. The existence of 6 alleles and 7 genotypes was confirmed: the genotypes of 9 cultivars were established as follows: (S(J)a, S(J)b) = 'Golden Delicious' (S(J)a, S(J)d) = 'Toukou' (S(J)c, S(J)d) = 'Jonathan', 'Hlmekami' (S(J)c, S(J)e) = 'Delicious' (S(J)c, S(J)f) = 'Fuji' (S(J)d, S(J)f) = 'Senshu', 'Iwakami' (S(J)e, S(J)f) = 'Ralls Janet', (S(J)a, S(J)e) or (S(J)b, S(J)e) = 'Redgold', 'Kinsei' It seems that 'Indo' has a Sjd-allele.
