Abstract

The arteriovenous fistula is the preferred vascular access for hemodialysis patients because of its low complication rate and lower costs, but it still has unacceptable failure rates. Krishnamoorthy et al. implicate the geometry of the fistula in the temporal and spatial variations occurring in two of the most important parameters of fistula maturation, blood flow and vessel diameter. © 2012 International Society of Nephrology.
