Abstract

In surveys of physicians about patients who had died in Belgium, where euthanasia is legal, the rate of euthanasia increased between 2007 and 2013, from 1.9 to 4.6% of deaths. The increase resulted from a rise in both the number of requests for euthanasia and the proportion of requests granted.
