Abstract

We suggest a simple dynamical system which mimics a nonlinear dynamo which is able to provide (in specific domains of its parametric space) the temporal evolution of solar magnetic activity cycles as well as evolution of geomagnetic field including its polarity reversals. A qualitative explanation for the physical nature of both phenomena is presented and discussed. © 2012 International Astronomical Union.
