Abstract

The cost-efficient, single-stage production of standard and high-grade steel sections from continuous casting billets has proved its merits for some time already. However, in view of the exacting quality requiremets involved, special steel sections are still generally produced in two stages from conventionally cast ingots or continuously cast blooms, including an inspection and dressing of the billet semi-finished product. The report discusses the development of special steel billet continuous casting for cast sections 130 mm, 150 mm and 175 mm square, and the subsequent processing. At present, most of the special structural steels, as well tool and higher alloyed steel grades, can be cast in these sections. The processing and component properties of the products fabricated therefrom meet the requirements. 26 ref.--AA TS - RIS U6 - ftp://info.metallurgy.ac.at/M2CC%20NEU/1984_Jung.pdf M4 - Citavi
