Abstract
Sedekah Bumi is one of the annual traditions of the people on the north coast of Central Java which is carried out after the harvest, precisely in the month of Dzulqo’dah on Weton Kliwon day. The purpose of this study was to determine the model of community gratitude and resilience in the Rembang community. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method with a phenomenological approach through in-depth interviews, observation and literature study. To anticipate data distortion in data collection, cross-checking of data was carried out through interviews between informants and observations and literature reviews with interviews. From checking the data, it is continued by analyzing which data has the highest accuracy. In addition, the analysis also uses the theory of resilience and gratitude from a psychological perspective. The results of this study indicate that sedekah bumi event can be a model to increase gratitude and resilience of community. The sedekah bumi ceremony triggers belief in spirituality and submission to God, gratitude and resilience of community. Sedekah bumi is one of a strategy of the community to anticipate and adapt in facing trauma, difficulties, tragedies, threats and all things that cause stress. Sedekah bumi is also as an expression of public gratitude to God. Gratitude is an expression of thankfull after receiving a valuable and altruistic award.
