Increased carotid intima-media thickness and stiffness in obese children

Abstract

This study of 100 obese children shows that obesity in childhood is associated with increased intima-media thickness and increased stiffness of the carotid artery. These changes represent early vascular abnormalities in these children that may predict future cardiovascular events.
