Abstract
This article describes the results of a quantitative study with 328 learners in the Chatsworth area. The main aim was to understand the influence of household and family composition on primary school learners. The results of the study reflect that children growing up in two-parent households tend to fare better on several variables than children growing up in single-parent, step-parent or grandparent-headed households.
