Abstract
Reviews the book, The hidden life of girls: Games of stance, status, and exclusion by Marjorie Harness Goodwin (see record [rid]2006-23541-000[/rid]). The author describes her study in which she analyzed interactions of girls (and boys) of diverse ethnic and social backgrounds. The book, largely focused on anthropological linguistics, encompasses relevant literature in psychology, sociology, women's studies, education, ethnography, conversation and critical discourse analysis. The study presented in the book is its most obvious strength. The definite advantage of the book is its reader-friendly, engaging organization. Finally, another important contribution of the book is the interdisciplinary approach adopted by the author. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved)
