Abstract

A reliable analytical expression for the maximum energy (γmax) of the accelerated electrons in the bubble regime is derived. The presented equation is more consistent than the previous equation derived by Kostyukov [Phys. Plasmas 11, 5256 (2004)]. The (γmax) derived by I. Kostyukov was two time larger than γmax observed in the particle in the cell (PIC) simulations. This new equation explains the monoenergetic electron energy more accurately in the relativistic regime and is in consistence with the observed PIC simulations. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.
