Ecos da Semana de Arte Moderna na crítica de arte Latino-Americana: Diálogos entre as intelectuais Aracy Amaral e Marta Traba nos anos 1970

Abstract

This article s main objective is to analyze Latin American intellectuals performance in producing and disseminating knowledge about art in Latin America, especially related to Brazilian Modernism. For this purpose, Aracy Amaral s perspective on modernist art and architecture in Brazil, present in the book Arte y arquitectura del modernismo brasileño (1917-1930), translated into Spanish by Marta Traba, to Ayacucho Library Collection in 1978, is evaluated. Furthermore, this work establishes some connections between the Brazilian and the Argentine intellectuals trajectories and thoughts, two significant references on art and culture in the region. Finally, with contributions from the Social History of Art and Intellectual History, we seek to understand the role of intellectuals in consolidating the movement as an artistic-cultural landmark in Latin America in a context of approximation among Latin American countries.
