Abstract

The chromosomes of 16 collections of Scilla autumnalis L. from Tunisia and the Aegean were investigated, and 8 cytotypes were found. Fourteen cytotypes, the total number known so far in the species, involving polyploidy, aneuploidy, B‐chromosomes, and heterozygous and homozygous structural variation, are briefly described. The relationships between the cytotypes, distribution pattern of the cytotypes and a polytopic origin of the polyploids are discussed. Copyright © 1982, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved
