Abstract

Sockeye salmon were introduced to New Zealand from British Columbia in 1902, probably from normal anadromous (sea-run) stock. They have developed into a permanently freshwater stock, but are not identical in appearance with Canadian freshwater salmon (kokanee) derived from sea-run parents. © Journal of the Royal Society of New Zealand.
