Abstract

Dewatering of wastewater treatment sludge by cyclic freezing-thawing method was investigated. The parameters determining the moisture yield of the compacted excess activated sludge were specified. Three cycles of sludge freezing result in a decrease in the specific resistance of filtration and an improvement in the dynamics of sewage sludge filtration. Relationship between the sludge specific resistance and the number of freezing-thawing cycles and the freezing temperature were established.
